Konami has officially announced that it will release “Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection” for PlayStation 3 in North America and South America this summer. A few days ago, rumors surfaced online claiming that the collection would arrive for PlayStation 3. However, the developers kept mum. That has all changed now with an official press release by Konami.
In a press release, Tomoyuki Tsuboi, President of Konami said:
“We wanted to give Metal Gear Solid fans the opportunity to experience the series from beginning to end, all on one console. With the collection’s multiple titles, players can truly see how Metal Gear Solid evolved into the critically acclaimed and beloved franchise it is today.”
Konami has announced this collection to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the franchise. The collection includes :
- Metal Gear Solid
- Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions
- Metal Gear Solid2: Sons of Liberty HD Edition
- Metal Gear Solid3: Snake Eater HD Edition
- Metal Gear Solid4: Trophy Edition
- Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker HD Edition
- Two Ashley Wood digital graphic novels
Konami has also announced that the franchise has sold more than 33 million units to date. With more than 33 million units sold to date, the Metal Gear series has become a global phenomenon. The next game in the Metal Gear Franchise is Metal Gear Solid 5.
The developers haven’t revealed the price for the collection.
