What appears to be fifteen minutes of in-game footage from Ubisoft’s forthcoming Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon has appeared on YouTube.
Get ready folks, Ubisoft has announced further details for Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. Once believed to be a potential April Fool’s Day joke based on how crazy the box art was, Far cry is indeed receiving a retro Sci-Fi style add-on that almost seems like it would be better suited for the world of Saints Row.
Here’s a generous 15 minute video of Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. However, It hasn’t come through official Ubisoft channels, but it’s unmistakably Blood Dragon because the gameplay mechanics are very much similar to FC3, with enemy tagging and stealth elements intact.
The cutscenes are reminiscent of late ’80s computer game graphics. The video follows several weeks of leaks including the game’s initial discovery, a website launch, and two sets of screenshots.
Listed on XBLM
Not only is Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon very real and very, very neon, it also could be here in just over three weeks. It is now listed on the official Xbox website.
Here’s the official XBLMP listing that was uploaded over the weekend.
“Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon is THE Kick-Ass Cyber Shooter taking place on a bizarre open-world island crawling with evil. Welcome to an 80′s VHS vision of the future. The year is 2007 and you are Sargent Rex Colt, a Mark IV Cyber Commando who’s fighting against a cyborg army gone rogue.
Your mission: get the girl, kill the baddies, and save the world. Experience every cliché of a VHS era vision of a nuclear future, where cyborgs, blood dragons, mutants, and Michael Biehn (Terminator, Aliens, Navy Seals) collide. Playing Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon doesn’t require a copy of Far Cry 3.”
Ubisoft still hasn’t actually announced Blood Dragon. They did launch a spectacular website, though.
So, according to the listing on the XBLM website, the game will be standalone and is set to release on May 1. While details are so far restricted to XBLA, Brazilian classification ratings point towards releases on PS3 and PC as well.
